The City of Pottsboro has three municipal parks with over 45 acres of land throughout town. The parks offer a variety of outdoor recreational activities for the citizens of Pottsboro, as well as, surrounding area residents to play and stay healthy. The city provides many opportunities to stay active in your community and enjoy the outdoors right in your own back yard.
Friendship Park (615 E Hwy 120): Conveniently located on FM 120, Friendship Park offers playground equipment, a gazebo, picnic tables and benches, a historical bridge, restroom facility, and plenty of open space for activities such as soccer and baseball. Several community events are held in the park each year including the annual Frontier Days festival.
The Ball Park/Festival Park (310 Festival Park St.): Located just off FM 120, The Ball Park includes two 200ft. youth sized baseball fields and one 180ft. youth sized softball field, a concession/restroom facility and playground equipment.
James G. Thompson Park (610 Grayson St.): Located west of FM 996 just south of the railroad tracks, this park opened to the public in September 2012, the newest of the three parks, this 28 acre multi-use facility offers a wide variety of outdoor activities which include three soccer fields, one 350ft baseball and one 270ft softball fields and two new 200ft baseball/softball fields which can adjusted to meet individual needs, fishing pond, walking trail, basketball court, playground area, gazebo, two picnic shelters, dog park and improvements are still being made today.
Park gazebos and pavilions can be reserved, on a first come first serve basis for parties, weddings or reunions from sun-up to sun-down. A $75.00/day fee will be charged for those who would like to utilize the electricity.
Ball Fields can also be reserved up to a week in advance for 2 hours at a time. All reservations are based on first come, first serve basis. Some fields may not be available for certain times if an extended use agreement is in affect.
